Saving the Classics
This weekend, I wrote a column about why studying Latin and Greek is important. It came a week after Michigan State University graduated its last Classical Studies major.
It's going to be a sad day in East Lansing when there are no students left on campus who can translate the texts of the Greek historian Herodotus, and reinterpret and tell their generation about the true greatness of the Spartans.
The response from people has been great: did not know how many folks support classics and the Liberal Arts. If the trends keep continuing, they may need to be mustered.
